Peat blocks are mined from deposits by mechanical cutting (carved peat). The block peat is used as a structure-improving component for producing substrates and planting mixtures, which contain peat. Before use peat blocks are broke and sieved, separating into appropriate size fractions. Products with ideal structure and maximum capacity for saturation and capacity for water absorption are obtained from carved peat, which cannot be obtained using other methods of peat mining. The block peat is transported mainly non-packed by trucks, marine transport is also used.
